Enrolling in Recess classes is simple. Whether you're looking for your child's first class or adding to a busy schedule, this guide walks you through finding the perfect class and getting signed up.
Finding Classes
Start on the Explore page—this is where you'll find all available Recess classes.
From here, you can:
Browse featured and recommended classes based on your child's interests
Use filters to narrow your search by day of week, time of day, or specific child
Search by topic or keyword to find classes on specific subjects
View personalized recommendations tailored to what your child said they're interested in
Take your time exploring. There's a lot to discover, and your concierge is always happy to make recommendations if you want some guidance.
Understanding Class Details
Click on any class to see the full details. Here's what you'll find:
Description — What the class covers and what your child will learn
Schedule — How many sessions, how often, and how long each session runs
Price — The cost in credits/dollars
Age range — Suggested ages (these are recommendations, not hard limits)
Instructor info — Learn about the guide teaching the class
The "Pick a time" section shows all available cohorts (groups of students taking the class together). You'll see the cohort status:
Starting Soon — Enrollment is open and the class hasn't begun yet
In Progress — The class has started, but you may still be able to join
Full — The cohort is at capacity, but you can often join a waitlist
Enrolling Step-by-Step
Ready to enroll? Here's how:
Click "Register Kid" on your preferred time slot
Select which child is taking the class (if you have multiple kids)
Review the class details and price
Confirm your payment method — Credits are applied automatically
Complete enrollment — You're in!
The whole process takes less than a minute.
How Payment Works
Recess makes payment simple:
Credits are always applied first — Your monthly credits get used before your card is charged
If you have enough credits, there's no card charge at all
If credits don't cover the full cost, only the remainder is charged to your card
You can check your credit balance anytime in Settings > Billing.
After You Enroll
Once you're enrolled, a few things happen:
You'll see a confirmation with all the class details
Add to calendar — Use the link to add sessions to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or another calendar app
Find your enrollments — All your enrolled classes appear in Settings > Billing
Join the cohort channel — Your child can connect with classmates in the class's community channel
Make sure to check for any pre-class materials or instructions from the guide!
Canceling an Enrollment
Plans change—we understand. Here's how to cancel an enrollment:
Go to Settings > Billing
Find the enrollment you want to cancel
Click "Cancel Enrollment"
Choose whether to cancel immediately or at the end of the current billing period
Provide brief feedback (this helps us improve)
Depending on timing and our refund policy, you may receive a credit refund. Check our Refund and Billing Policy for details.
Managing Multiple Kids
If you have more than one child enrolled in classes:
Filter enrollments by child in Settings > Billing to see each kid's schedule
Each child's enrollments are tracked separately so you always know who's enrolled in what
This makes it easy to manage even a busy family schedule.
