Welcome to Recess! We're so glad you're here. Recess is an online learning community where kids take live classes, complete creative challenges, and connect with other curious, creative kids who share their interests. This guide will help you get oriented and set your family up for success.
What is Recess?
Recess is more than just online classes—it's a community built around the idea that learning should be joyful, social, and driven by curiosity. Here's what makes Recess special:
Live online classes taught by passionate, expert guides who love working with kids
A community of curious, creative kids from around the world who share your child's interests
Self-paced challenges across art, coding, writing, science, and more—over 50 to explore
Daily community hangouts where kids can connect, play games, and make friends
A safe, moderated environment where parents can feel confident their child is in good hands
Who is Recess for?
Recess is designed for kids ages 8-14. Our classes, challenges, and community spaces are all built with this age range in mind.
That said, we know every kid is different. If your child falls outside the 8-14 range but you think Recess might be a good fit, we'd love to chat. We handle these situations on a case-by-case basis—just reach out to your concierge or contact us at [email protected].
Recess is perfect for:
Homeschool families looking for enrichment and social connection
After-school learners who want to explore interests beyond the classroom
Any curious kid who loves learning, creating, and connecting with others
What's Included with Membership
Your Recess membership is $99/month and includes everything your child needs to thrive in our community:
$100 in monthly class credits — Use these toward any live class on the platform
Unlimited community access — Community Hour, chat channels, and challenges are all included
Credit rollover — Unused credits roll over month-to-month, up to $200
There are no hidden fees. Credits are automatically applied when you enroll in classes, and if a class costs more than your available credits, the remainder is simply charged to your card on file.
Getting Set Up
Setting up your Recess account takes just a few minutes. Here's what to do:
Create your account — Sign up at recess.gg with your email and set a password.
Add your kids — Enter each child's name and birthdate. You can add as many kids as you need.
Complete the orientation questions — Your child will answer a few quick questions about their interests and learning style. This helps us recommend classes they'll love.
Schedule your concierge call (optional but recommended) — Every new family gets a personal concierge to help you get started. They can answer questions, recommend classes, and make sure you're getting the most out of Recess.
Browse classes and enroll — Head to the Explore page to see all available classes. Use filters to find classes that fit your schedule and your child's interests.
